New Years Resolutions

Let’s start off the New Year with some simple and small changes that can add up to big differences in the end!

Before we start, make sure to:

  • Set realistic goals
  • Set a date ex: 5km run September 2012
  • Tell family and friends (more likely to stick with it)
  • Get tips/help from a Professional (Certified personal trainer, Dietitian etc.)

For the month of January and February I will be giving you tips to help you achieve your health and fitness goals.

1.    DRINK WATER

Some of many benefits:

  • Helps to lose weight
  • Better skin: look younger!
  • Natural cure for headaches
  • Helps in digestion and constipation

Interesting fact on water:

  • Water is made up of about 60% of our body weight, so it depends on it!
  • Some examples of what water does for our bodies : water flushes toxins out of vital organs, and carries nutrients to cells.

There are different ways to get your water in without getting bored:

  • Soups (low sodium with lots of veggies),
  • Tisanes (warm up in winter or ice tea to cool you off in the summer!)
  • Watermelon, tomatoes, milk and juice

Recipe

  • Mojito recipe:  (my favorite!)
    • In a pitcher, mix all the ingredients together and marinate overnight for best results (or for a few hours):
      • ¼ part Perrier or sparkling water
      • mint leaves
      • 1 lime (cut into slices)
      • The rest water!
      • Enjoy
