Week 1: Pink Latte

This is a pretty looking latte with great health benefits! This Pink Latte has beetroot powder, ginger and cinnamon...delish.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbs beetroot powder (or you can use 1 cooked beet)

  • 4 cups of coconut milk or any plant based milk of choice (i am trying out the beet latte by Organic Traditions that already has coconut milk powder and ginger)

  • 1 tsp-1 Tbs of grated ginger

  • 1 tsp of cinnamon powder

  • 1/4 tsp of vanilla powder or 1 tsp of vanilla extract

Blend it all up and enjoy warm (it’s great iced for the summertime!)

**Little hack if you are limited on time: There is a blend already made from Organic Traditions. I like to have this handy in case I don’t have time or the ingredients to make this from scratch…follow the instructions and either use a blender or a frother to make it look like a latte!

Benefits of beets:

  • beets can enhance athletic performance by improving oxygen use and time to exhaustion. To maximize their effects, beets should be consumed 2-3 hours prior to training or competing.

  • they have some anti-inflammatory effects

  • good source of fiber which is beneficial for digestive health

  • Beets have a high water and low calorie content

  • helps to improve blood flow and lower blood pressure

  • good source of folate, manganese, potassium, iron and vitamin C
