Let’s Talk about Scars!

Let’s talk about scars! Whether you have one from an orthopedic surgery like I have or a c-section like some of the moms in my mama baby fit class, I want to give you some tips that helped me after my right wrist surgery (pic #2: 8 months post-op). I am now starting my rehab journey for my left wrist (pic #1: 8 weeks post-op).

1st of all, if you are unsure or need more guidance, go see a Physio who can help you out! My Physio’s have been amazing and couldn’t do it without them!

Here are my tips to help loosen the scar tissue and get it feeling & looking better:

  • Start by using your finger or a piece of material to gently touch over your scar to work on decreasing it’s sensitivity. Move up-down, side-side and then try little circles (like a little massage).

  • Once that starts to feel better, start pressing a little harder with the same directions as above.

  • Next step: start pinching & picking up the skin to move it side to side and up & back.

  • Scar tape is great to use especially at night. I found this helped to loosen the scar tissue!

  • Lastly, I did some cupping but as a massage: up and back (when the scar is feeling better)

Hope this information can help you with your scar recovery journey.
